The Fertőrákos quarry is a popular excursion destination and tourist attraction, unique in Hungary. It presents the formation of lime limestone, the formation of the quarry, the mining processes. In 1948, limestone mining ceased.

It also operates as a cave theater. It has been a venue for cultural events for decades. Thanks to the great acoustics, concerts, theater and opera performances and festivals are held every summer.
